Purdue grad is first woman to head engineering society

Purdue alumna Patricia D. Galloway, CEO and president of The Nielsen-Wurster Group Inc., will speak during a luncheon at 11:45 a.m. Thursday (11/7) in the Purdue Memorial Union's North Ballroom. Her campus appearance is in conjunction with the 17th Annual Civil Engineering Professional Development Seminar.

Galloway earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Purdue in 1978 and a master's degree in business administration from the New York Institute of Technology in 1984. She recently became the first woman elected president of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the world's largest civil engineering society. She takes office in November 2003.

The Nielsen-Wurster Group, based in Seattle, provides engineering and management consulting services to the legal, regulatory, engineering, industrial, commercial and construction sectors.
