October 11, 2002 Award-winning 'Fosse' dances into Elliott Hall WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – "Fosse," the Tony Award-winning musical revue, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Elliott Hall of Music. Admission is $39, $33, $28 and $14 for general public; $28, $24, $20 and $12 for Purdue students and children K-12. "Fosse" is presented by Purdue Convocations. "Fosse" highlights the work of the legendary dancer, choreographer and director Bob Fosse. Fosse's style revolutionized the musical theater with such Broadway hits as "Sweet Charity," "Dancin'" and "Chicago," and the films "Cabaret" and "All That Jazz." Longtime Fosse stars Gwen Verdon and Ann Reinking came together to recreate Bob Fosse's groundbreaking work, and the cast brings Broadway's all-time best choreography to life in this fast-moving musical. In 1973 Bob Fosse became the first director in history to win the Oscar, Tony and Emmy awards in a single year for the film version of "Cabaret," the Broadway musical "Pippin" and the television special "Liza with a Z." His work on Broadway garnered him no less than nine Tony Awards for "The Pajama Game," "Redhead," "Little Me," "Sweet Charity," "Chicago," "Dancin'," "Damn Yankees," "Big Deal," "New Girl In Town" and "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." Fosse's film work includes the direction of "Sweet Charity," "Lenny," "All That Jazz" and "Star 80," and the choreography for "My Sister Eileen," "The Little Prince," "The Pajama Game" and "Damn Yankees." "Fosse" includes rarely seen dance and musical numbers from the choreographer's earliest works, as well as many numbers from films and television shows that have never before been seen on stage. The production also showcases classic Fosse dance numbers like "Steam Heat," "Mr. Bojangles," "Big Spender," "Bye Bye Blackbird," "Rich Man's Frug," "Dancin' Man" and "Sing, Sing, Sing." "Fosse" has been seen live by more than 4 million people worldwide and by millions more through the PBS telecast on "Great Performances In America."
