– Registration for the spring 2003 semester begins Monday, Oct. 7. The spring semester begins Jan. 13 and runs through May 10. Students should make an appointment with their academic advisers unless the school in which they are enrolled provides special instructions for registration.

– The Focus on Teaching Lecture and Teaching Academy Induction will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, in Stewart Center's Fowler Hall. The keynote speaker is Linda P.B. Katehi, dean of the Schools of Engineering. The program includes the induction of new Teaching Academy members. – Study abroad applications are due Oct. 1 for the upcoming spring semester. Students can apply online at https://www.studyabroad.purdue.edu or pick up an application at the Study Abroad Office in Young Graduate House. Scholarships are available to cover the cost of the airfare program. The deadline for scholarship applications is Oct. 15. For more information, call the Study Abroad Office at (765) 494-2383.

– The Third Symposium on Second Language Writing "Constructing Knowledge: Approaches to Inquiry in Second Language Writing" is Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11 and 12, in Stewart Center, Room 218. The symposium will present 16 scholars from Canada, China, Japan, Germany and the United States who will explore ways in which knowledge is constructed, transformed, disseminated and negotiated in the field of second language writing.
