Campus activities; faculty, staff honors and alumni honors

Campus activities
– The Liberal Arts Student Council's Career and Internship Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Purdue Memorial Union South Ballroom. Students are invited to explore their career and professional experience opportunities at the fair. Last year, almost 700 students attended the fair. Professional dress is recommended.

Faculty and staff honors
– Dennis Short, professor of computer graphics technology and director of the Purdue International Center for Entertainment Technology, has been elected to the Visual Effects Society. Short is one of 800 technology professionals in the world to receive this honor.

– Cheryl Altinkemer, senior director of development, was selected by the Association of Fundraising Professionals as the Fundraising Executive of the Year. The award was presented at a Sept. 12 awards ceremony in Indianapolis.

Alumni honors
– Andrea Sjovall, a 2002 Krannert School MBA graduate, had the winning entry in the "Best MBA Paper in Corporate Citizenship" competition through the Center for Corporate Citizenship at Boston College. She won $5,000 for her paper, "From Actions to Impressions: Cognitive Attribution Theory and the Formation of Corporate Reputation," and presented the paper at the 2002 Academy of Management conference in Colorado. Arnold C. Cooper, the Louis A. Weil Jr. Professor of Management, was her adviser for the paper.
