Campus activities, faculty and staff honors Campus activities – John T. Kirby, professor of classics, will present "Teaching the Humanities at the Turn of the Millennium" at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 17 at the West Faculty Lounge in the Purdue Memorial Union. Kirby's presentation is part of the Focus on Teaching lecture series that is dedicated to teaching and learning. Faculty and staff honors – Suzanne Nielsen, professor of food science, received the 2002 William V. Cruess Award from the Institute of Food Technologists. The honor recognizes members who have achieved excellence in teaching food science and technology. Nielsen has received the Department of Food Science's outstanding instructor award for nine of the past 18 years. The Institute of Food Technologists is a not-for-profit scientific society with 27,000 members working in food science, technology and related professions in industry, academia and government.
