PMO to perform patriotic concert on Slayter Hill

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue Musical Organizations' annual Slayter Hill Concert will reflect the pride and patriotism of Americans in remembrance of Sept. 11.

The concert, entitled "We Will Stand," will be performed at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 by the five Purdue musical ensembles, including the Purdue Varsity Glee Club, the Purduettes, the University Choir, the Bell Choir and PMO Express. The concert, sponsored by the Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union (PEFCU), is free and open to the public.

PMO director Brian Breed says the concert provides an ideal time for families to pack a picnic while enjoying topnotch vocal talent by more than 200 students.

"Music not only heals the soul, it brings joy to our lives," Breed says. "PEFCU is giving us the opportunity to bring together family and friends in and outside of out community to share in the excitement. It will be a fantastic day, so come out and join us."

Musical selections include familiar standards, country, pop and patriotic classics including, "We Will Stand," "God Bless the USA" and "On the Banks of the Wabash," among others.
