August 29, 2002 Black Cultural Center provides afternoon of family fun WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Live jazz, poetry readings, a Jeopardy game and a children's activity and game room are just a few of the attractions of the Purdue University Black Cultural Center's second annual Friends and Family Day. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be at the center from 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14. Refreshments also will be offered. Friends and Family Day chairperson Donna Hall says she hopes many people will take advantage of the chance for more family fun after the Purdue football game. "This event is being organized to provide students, faculty, staff and the Greater Lafayette community an opportunity to come together for a day of fun, food and learning about other cultures," Hall says. "Our mission is to enhance the community's understanding of the cultural richness of the African-American experience." The Black Cultural Center has offered cultural programs since 1970.
