Police investigate $13,000 theft of golf equipment

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue University police are investigating the theft of $13,000 in golf equipment Sunday (8/25) from the Pete Dye Clubhouse at the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.

Ron Fosnaugh, Purdue police captain of special services, said police responded to a burglar alarm at the clubhouse at approximately 8:25 p.m. and discovered the clubhouse's east side door and a double pane window had been broken. Officers found vehicle tire tracks near the door.

Fosnaugh said an inventory of the missing items was conducted that estimated the loss of new golf clubs and bags at $13,377. The stolen items included Titleist/Callaway wood and iron clubs, Odyssey putters, and Belding/Bushwack and Titleist golf bags.

A clubhouse employee said he left the complex shortly after 8 p.m. but did not notice anything out of the ordinary or other vehicles in the parking lot, Fosnaugh said.

Anyone with information related to the case should call the Purdue Police Department at (765) 494-8221.
