August 5, 2002 Sale of Garfield print to raise money for Indiana 4-H WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Hoosier 4-H supporters can earn money for their state 4-H foundation by bidding online Aug. 4-10 for a popular Garfield print. The sale of 54 prints, "Celebrating 100 Years of 4-H (1902-2002)," featuring Garfield the cat and the 4-H Pledge, were produced. A single print by cartoonist Jim Davis will be sold for each state. Bidding for the Indiana print will be only during that week. The prints are only available online and the minimum bid is $250. Each print is 15 inches by 35 inches and has been signed by Davis. Directions for bidding are available on the site. The weekly eBay auctions of the 4-H centennial Garfield prints began in November 2001 and have raised more than $30,000 to date. More than 8,000 people have participated in the 26 auctions held so far with 510 bids placed. The median selling price is $1,200. The highest bid so far is $1,650, benefiting Texas 4-Hers. Half of the proceeds earned from the Indiana print will go to the state 4-H foundation. Bidding will close on Saturday (8/10), which is 4-H Day at the Indiana State Fair.
