August crop report at the Indiana State Fair

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Current crop conditions and the implications for Indiana agriculture will be some of the topics covered in a Purdue University briefing for Lt. Gov. Joe Kernan at the Indiana State Fair on Monday, Aug. 12.

News media are invited to attend the briefing, which will start at 8:30 a.m. on the stage in the Pioneer Our Land Pavilion.

Vic Lechtenberg, dean of School of Agriculture will moderate the briefing for Kernan, who also serves as Indiana's Commissioner of Agriculture. U.S. Department of Agriculture state statistician Ralph Gann will present the USDAs August crop report. Purdue Extension agricultural economist Chris Hurt and Purdue Extension agricultural economist Tom Jordan also will participate.

Topics will include the Indiana crop forecast, delayed planting and dry weather impacts, and the grain marketing outlook.
