Appointments and promotions:

– Robin Prokop and John Sloan have been appointed Senior Directors of Development, joining Cheryl Altenkemer, who was previously appointed in January. The three newly restructured positions will lead and supervise university development officers while reporting to and coordinating efforts with the Office of Advancement.

Prokop will begin her new duties on July 1. She come to Purdue after serving as director of development for the University of Wisconsin, where she also served as the director of annual giving and donor clubs. Prokop earned her Undergraduate degree in business administration from Mount Mary College in Wautwatosa, Wisconsin, and her executive masters in business administration from the University of Wisconsin.

Sloan's appointment takes effect July 24. He recently worked for the National Collegiate Athletic Association Foundation in Indianapolis as director of development, as well as the Indiana University Foundation as the Executive Director of its capital campaign. Sloan earned his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Colorado. He also holds a graduate degree in military management from the U.S. Air Force and undergraduate degrees biology and psychology from Olivet College in Illinois.

Campus activities:

– Class space remains for two Intensive Short Courses on bioanalytical instrumentation, which will be held during the week of July 22-26. Introduction to Optical and Mass Spectroscopic Instrumentation will provide scientists with little formal course work in instrumental methods of analysis with overview of how modern instrumentation works. Registration is free and open to all Purdue faculty, staff and students, as well as industrial scientists who work for a company with current Purdue connections.
