Chef Carl to serve up summer Lunch-and-Learn series at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Step away from the stove Emeril, the Purdue University Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management is cooking up its Lunch-and-Learn series this summer.

Chef Carl Behnke, an instructor in the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management and the special events chef for the university's president, will conduct four Friday lunch sessions from noon to 1 p.m. in the Stone Hall's John Purdue Room. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he also oversees all food courses taught in the department.

"With a nod to Emeril and other television cooking show hosts, Chef Carl will prepare and serve a light luncheon paired with a themed lecture designed to teach specialized cooking tips to attendees," said Lisa Harker, program coordinator for the Department of Continuing Education.

The dates and themes are:

June 14 – Desserts: Simple and Sinful

June 28 – Summer Specialties: Picnics, Soups and Salads

July 12 – The Art of Food: Eating with the Eyes

July 19 – Quick and Easy: Balanced Meals for Busy People

Each event costs $20 per person, which includes the meal and instruction. Space is limited, and preregistration is required.
