May 20, 2002 Home and Family Conference to be at PurdueWEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. The 89th annual Home and Family Conference will be at Purdue University June 11-14. "The conference is about bringing people together around a theme of family and home," said Betty Krejci, conference chairperson. "We offer a diverse selection of workshops and speakers, so there is something for everyone." The keynote address will be delivered by Melanie Mills, founder of Higher Ground Inc. Training and Development, at the 8 a.m. session on June 13. Mills' presentation, "Making Sense of Organizational Change: Leveraging Change in an Ever-Changing World," will focus on what is happening in organizations today and how to maintain productivity and avoid stagnation. Mills also will present a workshop titled "Making Change." Other featured speakers and activities include: In addition, concurrent sessions cover many home and family topics, including character building, financial security, helping children understand world events, preserving family memories, cooking for diabetics, caring for cut flowers, retirement; flag etiquette and bone health. The conference kicks off at 9 a.m. June 11 with performances by more than 30 Indiana Extension Homemakers Association county choruses. The choruses will combine to perform at 7:30 p.m. under Purdue Music Organizations' director Brian Breed. The conference fee is $45 for the entire conference or $32 for one day.
