Purdue recognizes National Student Employment Week

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Student employees are being recognized for their contributions to the Purdue University community during National Student Employment Week, April 7-13.

The observance is being promoted by the Purdue Division of Financial Aid and the National Student Employment Association (NSEA). Both organizations encourage employers to thank their student employees this week.

Joyce Hall, financial aid director at Purdue University, says student employees receive many benefits aside from the obvious financial boost.

"Student employment can act as an important link between a student employee's academic success and future career achievements," Hall says. "In return, employers receive competent and motivated employees with a diverse background of skills, talent, knowledge and working potential."

Hall says with the current economic climate, more students find themselves seeking employment.

"Students are often directly involved in paying a portion of their own academic expenses while going to college," she says. "It is very important to recognize these students' efforts in their pursuit to balance academics, free time and employment."
