Appointments and promotions; Faculty and staff honorsAppointments and promotions Faculty and staff honors: Purdue University's Breaking New Ground Resource Center recently received a first place award from the National Safety Council for its innovative educational programs and outreach materials. Breaking New Ground (BNG) won the 2001 Award for Improvement in the Quality of Life for People with Disabilities, presented by the National Safety Council's Community Safety Division. BNG was recognized for The Toolbox, a resource manual for farmers with disabilities, its rural Indiana county disability assessment initiative and an annual caregiver workshop series. BNG is an outreach program within Purdue's Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. The program offers services and resources for persons with disabilities working in agriculture.
