State 4-H Chorus to select participants for summer camp

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – 4-H members and other youths who want to learn about vocal performance may apply for a place in the 4-H State Chorus.

The 2002 Indiana State 4-H Chorus Workshop will be June 22-26 at Purdue University. The chorus also will perform Aug. 9 and 10 at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis.

Prospective chorus members should be entering high school or currently in high school. Youths entering eighth grade will be considered. Chorus members may continue to participate through 12th grade, or the year he or she turns 19.

Participants will stay in a Purdue residence hall and will practice in campus facilities during the workshop. The chorus is sponsored by the Purdue Department of 4-H Youth and Purdue Musical Organizations. Sessions will be led by Brian Breed, director of PMO.

The fee for the workshop is $100, including registration, lodging, three meals and a performance shirt. Participants are responsible for 10 meals and the remainder of their performance uniform.

Applications are available from local Purdue Cooperative Extension offices or from the 4-H Web site. A recommendation from the applicant's vocal instructor also should be included. For more information visit the 4-H Web site or call Pam Robbins, 4-H State Chorus director, at (812) 967-3738.
