For additional information, call (765) 494-8396 January 19-20: Purdue Horseman'S Conference And Horse Feeding WorkshopThe Purdue Horseman's Conference is aimed at adult horse owners, veterinarians, feed manufacturers and 4-H leaders. The program includes presentations by many Purdue faculty and industry professionals. Emerging diseases, vaccines, horse farm planning and injuries are among topics that will be covered. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.; the conference runs from 8:25 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 19. The registration fee is $65. Lunch and coffee are included. The Purdue Horse Feeding Workshop will be Jan. 20. This workshop is hands-on and will provide in-depth information on forage analysis, feeding programs, toxic plants, and dental problems and treatment. Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m.; the workshop runs from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The registration fee is $100 and is limited to 25 attendees. Both programs will be in Lynn Hall on Purdue's West Lafayette, Ind., campus. Continuing education credits are available for veterinary technicians and technologists and veterinarians. January 21-February 7: Third Annual Regional Beef WorkshopsThese workshops will provide beef producers with information on nutrition and either carcass ultrasounds, herd health or marketing, depending on location. It also is an opportunity for family members and/or partners to begin making decisions together as to the future of the farm. The cost is $40 per family or farm operation that registers by Jan. 15, $50 for late registration. The workshop will be in Stewart Center on the Purdue West Lafayette, Ind., campus. February 2: Ag ForecastEnvironmental issues and the new farm bill will be discussed with guest speakers Jim Moseley, USDA deputy secretary of agriculture, and a representative of the Environmental Protection Agency. The event is free and will begin at 9:15 a.m. in the ballrooms at the University Inn, north of West Lafayette, Ind., on U.S. 52. February 2: Ag Alumni Fish FryBob Dole, former Republican presidential candidate and senator from Kansas, will be the featured speaker at the Purdue School of Agricultural Alumni Fish Fry. The event will be at Cumberland Place, north of West Lafayette, Ind., on U.S. 52. The fish fry runs from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tickets are $15 and seats are reserved.
