Purdue University and Purdue Research Foundation will close 2025 with a surge of momentum that will define the future of critical industries such as national defense, digital innovation, health care and next‑generation manufacturing, as Discovery Park District at Purdue and Purdue Research Park continue to emerge as nationally significant engines of innovation, investment and industry collaboration.
Young Kim, professor of biomedical engineering, University Faculty Scholar and Showalter Faculty Scholar, has developed an innovation being explored as a potential tool to identify women at higher risk of developing preeclampsia. He is participating in a two-year research study evaluating approaches to monitor the health of pregnant women in Africa and inform future efforts to reduce maternal mortality.
Purdue recognized more than 300 faculty members for their years of service during a celebratory luncheon Dec. 2. Faculty members were celebrated for service anniversaries ranging from 10 years to a remarkable 55.
Purdue Galleries is holding Degas Days, a celebration of art, performance and conversation inspired by Degas and the art of movement, today and Thursday (Dec. 10-11) on the second floor of the Purdue Memorial Union. Highlights include a cello concert led by professor Kristen Yeon, hands-on sculpture and drawing workshops, gallery discussions with faculty and curators, and conversations with donor Avrum Gray and author and biographer Michael Shelden. The event is free and open to the public.
Purdue, known as the Cradle of Astronauts, has also been active in analog astronautics. Nine crews from Purdue have visited a Mars-like analog facility in Hanksville, Utah, created by the Mars Society.
