NASA has named astronaut and Purdue alumnus Scott Tingle as chief of the Astronaut Office at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Tingle has logged more than 4,500 flight hours in 51 different aircraft and served as a flight engineer aboard the International Space Station. He graduated from Purdue with a master’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1988, specializing in fluid mechanics and propulsion.
Purdue has released its 12th annual Engineering Gift Guide, featuring 10 carefully selected toys and tools designed to spark curiosity and learning in microelectronics among children and teens. The guide highlights gifts that blend play with purpose, introducing young learners to the foundational concepts of circuitry, robotics and programming.
