A select group of Purdue engineering and pharmacy graduate students are advancing Indiana’s biopharmaceutical workforce training opportunities through the BioTrain Fellows program.
PaveX, a Purdue-connected startup, is leveraging AI to help public works departments across multiple Indiana cities automate road condition assessments and maintain local road infrastructure. Mohammad Jahanshahi, CEO and founder, said the company’s solution uses a data collection system that can be implemented for only a few thousand dollars.
Chuanhai Liu, associate head and professor of statistics in the College of Science, was recently named a 2025 fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics. The designation of IMS fellow has been a significant honor for 90 years. Each fellow has demonstrated distinction in research in statistics or probability or has demonstrated leadership that has profoundly influenced the field.
The campus community, alumni and friends are invited to a Celebration of Victories and Heroes on Oct. 24 in Mackey Arena. The event will begin at 5 p.m. with a special program, followed at 6 p.m. by a watch party for the Purdue men’s basketball exhibition game against Kentucky.
Dan DeLaurentis, executive vice president for research, hosted a delegation of Indiana legislators for a daylong session about defense research in West Lafayette. During the Sept. 25 visit, members of the Indiana General Assembly defense caucus and staff met with university leaders, research faculty and students to learn about Purdue’s research in hypersonic aviation, energetics cybersecurity, semiconductors and AI. They also toured key research facilities.
Seasonal flu shots, which support the physical health pillar of the Healthy Boiler Wellness Program, are provided annually at no charge to all benefits-eligible Purdue faculty and staff as well as spouses and dependents covered on a Purdue health plan. Purdue employees are encouraged to bring their Purdue University ID, regardless of location. Anyone under the age of 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
