Entering its second year in Indianapolis, Purdue is strategically focusing on creating a pipeline of job-ready talent in fields that meet the workforce needs of the capital city and state of Indiana. The launch of new academic programs and expansion of current offerings over the next two years is a major part of Purdue’s continued growth in Indianapolis.

Where bold ideas begin, breakthrough enterprises are born: Purdue Innovates updates support for both inventors and entrepreneurs
At Purdue, innovation doesn’t stop at discovery. It’s where big ideas ignite bold startups and world-changing inventions with excellence at scale. Launched in April 2023 and updated in summer 2025, Purdue Innovates helps Boilermakers transform problems into possibilities: protecting IP, launching new companies, funding bold solutions and partnering with industry to create real-world impact. Over the past two years, the initiative has unified technology transfer, startup incubation and venture investment. Now this streamlined system has even more to offer for Boilermakers to turn ideas into impact.

Purdue students capture 16 competitive NSF Graduate Research fellowships for 2025; 17 others achieve honorable mentions
Powering Purdue’s research and teaching missions, graduate and undergraduate students have continued an impressive run of success with the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program: 16 students captured awards while another 17 students achieved honorable mention notoriety for 2025. Eight Purdue alumni now completing graduate studies at other institutions also have received program awards, and 16 other alums gained honorable mention status.

Staff study abroad: Mechanical engineering staff join students on international trips
In 2025, Purdue’s School of Mechanical Engineering staff had the opportunity to travel internationally with faculty and students for the first time. Five staff members traveled to Argentina, France, Italy, Germany and South Korea to experience the industry visits, lectures, site visits, classwork and cultural destinations themselves.
