The fourth edition of “Analysis of Electric Machinery and Drive Systems” updates the seminal textbook in rotating electric machinery. Co-writers Paul Krause (1932-2025), retired professor of electrical and computer engineering; Oleg Wasynczuk, professor emeritus of electrical and computer engineering; Scott Sudhoff, the Michael and Katherine Birck Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering; and Steven Pekarek, the Edmund O. Schweitzer, III Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, detail stationary magnetically coupled circuits, energy balance relationships, force and torque production, and steady-state and dynamic performance of electromechanical systems.
Three Purdue students — Arjun Gupte, a senior in the College of Engineering; Ishaan Singh, a junior in the College of Science and the John Martinson Honors College; and Zhiyuan Chen, a junior in the colleges of Agriculture and Engineering — have been named by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation as 2025 Astronaut Scholars. The Astronaut Scholarship is one of the nation’s most prestigious merit-based scholarships for undergraduates in science, technology, engineering and math.
The Indiana State Fair kicks off Aug. 1 and highlights the theme “Soundtrack of Summer,” presented by Get Prepared Indiana. Fairgoers can hear from Purdue experts about everything from insects to drones to physical and financial wellness.
For the first time in history, all of Purdue’s Society of Automotive Engineers racing teams have finished in the top 10 in one of the most challenging intercollegiate competitions in the world. For nearly 50 years, SAE has challenged students to race different classes of custom vehicles. Students spend the school year designing, building and testing the vehicles, and then gather during the summer to compete against other university teams.
