Purdue is recognizing 10 faculty members who have been elected as fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, one of the most distinct honors within the scientific community. The honor, from the world’s largest general scientific society, recognizes members whose efforts on behalf of the advancement of science or its applications are scientifically or socially distinguished. The Class of 2025 includes the highest number of Boilermakers in six decades.
Harnessing its reputation in athletics and the sports strength of its urban location in Indianapolis, Purdue is launching a master’s degree program in sport management. The Master of Science in Sport Management, which will begin in fall 2025, leverages Purdue’s athletic prowess, partnerships with industry leaders and Indianapolis’ renowned reputation as a sports-centric city.
A textbook that is regarded as the cornerstone of veterinary practice education has released its third edition. Edited by Jeff Ko, professor of anesthesiology in Purdue’s College of Veterinary Medicine, “Small Animal Anesthesia and Pain Management: A Color Handbook” is a detailed exploration of inhalant anesthetic equipment and its essential accessories, preoperative blood work, intravenous induction options, and premedication drugs and dosages.
On a cold day at the start of the spring semester, the College of Liberal Arts had the chance to sit down and talk with philosophy major and Purdue star basketball player Trey Kaufman-Renn and professor of philosophy Jan Cover. As you might expect when two philosophers start talking, the conversation was insightful, had plenty of quips and witty banter, and was filled with passion for all things life, philosophy and basketball.
