Manfra appointed to lead Purdue’s quantum institute
Quantum computing expert Michael Manfra has been named director of the Purdue Quantum Science and Engineering Institute. He is the Bill and Dee O’Brien Distinguished Professor of Physics and Astronomy, professor of electrical and computer engineering, and professor of materials engineering.

Strachan to lead digital twin innovation for the Office of Research
To ensure Purdue’s continued growth and national prominence in the field of digital twins, the Office of Research has appointed Alejandro Strachan as research fellow for its Intelligent Twins and Digital Innovation initiative. Digital twins are virtual copies of real-world things, such as devices, machines, buildings or even human organs, that are created using physics-based simulations or data from lab or field measurements.

PACADA honors three academic advisors for outstanding work
Three academic advisors were recognized by the Purdue Academic Advising Association (PACADA) during its annual business meeting. Jenna Wargo, Outstanding Advisor Award recipient; Joshua Delgado, Outstanding New Professional Award recipient; and Jaclyn Palm, Spirit of PACADA Award recipient, were honored for their dedication to student success and active involvement in the campus community.

Spring Fling set for May 22
The annual Spring Fling appreciation day for Purdue faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees is set for 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22 at and around Memorial Mall. The event will feature a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including bingo, lawn games, golf, the fitness walk, a bloodmobile, musical entertainment and a classic vehicle show. Lunch options will also be available.

Purdue civics test administered more than 15,000 times
As Civic Learning Week kicks off, Purdue marks a milestone for its Civics Literacy undergraduate degree requirement. Since its adoption for fall 2021, the Purdue civics knowledge test has been taken over 15,000 times by more than 13,000 students.
