Four of Purdue University’s online master’s degrees in engineering are ranked No. 1 in the newest rankings of best online programs from U.S. News & World Report, and Purdue’s full array of online master’s programs in engineering ranked No. 2 nationally, up one spot from 2024. Three of Purdue’s online master’s in education programs also moved into the top 10 in the annual U.S. News rankings of graduate programs delivered online throughout the country.
Purdue, in collaboration with Eli Lilly and Company and Merck & Co. Inc., announced Friday (Jan. 17) the launch of the Young Institute Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Consortium, a collaborative effort to pioneer advances in making medicines. Operating within Purdue’s William D. and Sherry L. Young Institute for Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals, consortium partners will revolutionize pharmaceutical manufacturing with a focus on sterile injectables and innovative aseptic manufacturing technology to ensure quality, safety and compliance.
Purdue brought its strengths in semiconductors, artificial intelligence and other innovative areas to last week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Known as CES, the annual expo took place Jan. 7-10 and is considered the world’s largest showcase of the latest consumer electronics.
The president and CEO of GlobalFoundries, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, joined President Mung Chiang for a fireside chat on Wednesday (Jan. 15), kicking off the spring 2025 edition of the Presidential Lecture Series. Dr. Thomas Caulfield, who has led GlobalFoundries since 2018, steered the company’s initial public offering in October 2021, which was the largest semiconductor IPO on Nasdaq that year. An advisory committee has been named for the national search for a successor to Purdue’s executive vice president for research, Karen Plaut, who will retire June 30 from the university. Lucy Flesch, the Frederick L. Hovde Dean of the College of Science and professor of earth, atmospheric, and planetary sciences, will chair the committee.
