Conceptual renderings of Purdue’s new Academic Success Building in Indianapolis were released today (Jan. 15), bringing a uniquely Purdue look to the Circle City. Approved by the Purdue University Board of Trustees in June, the 248,000-square-foot red brick building, to be located near the intersection of West and Michigan streets, will be the initial centerpiece of Purdue’s urban expansion, providing classrooms, laboratories, dining and housing, as well as space for community and local high schools’ use.
PhD candidate Jong Yoon Jeon credits his father with inspiring a love of the outdoors by showing him areas beyond their home in metro Seoul, South Korea. After studying biology and forestry at Seoul National University, he spent time exploring the Amazonian rainforest in Peru, then returned to Seoul for his master’s. Shifting his focus from ecology to conservation genetics, he launched his doctoral studies under Purdue forestry and natural resources professor Andrew DeWoody.

Thomas Caulfield has an extensive career spanning engineering, executive management and global operational leadership with leading technology companies. Caulfield’s Presidential Lecture appearance, titled “Semiconductors: The Core of the World Economy,” is at 6 p.m. in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. The event is free and open to the public, but a
general admission ticket will be required.
