Crater highlighted on Mars
A legacy etched in the red planet: Mars crater named for planetary expert Jay Melosh
A former Earth, atmospheric and planetary science professor has permanently left his mark on Mars, the red planet. According to the U.S. Geological Survey’s Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature website, a crater on Mars has been named “Melosh” after Jay Melosh (1947-2020), a leading world expert in impact crater physics. Melosh was known for his work on impact cratering, planetary tectonics and the physics of earthquakes and landslides.

Bringing Our Best: Nicole McCabe
A resounding thank-you to Nicole (Career Success) and the Center for Career Opportunities team for really pulling out all the stops to nourish not only existing relationships but also establish new relationships with community partners in the area. Your Herculean efforts to help increase Federal Work-Study awareness in the community have led to increased off-campus opportunities in community service for our students.
