Purdue is continuing to expand its world-class higher education offerings in Indiana’s capital city with the announcement of new undergraduate and graduate program opportunities available to students starting fall 2025.
Purdue researchers recently examined how 13-month-olds fell and recovered while holding objects. Laura Claxton, associate professor of health and kinesiology and director of the Purdue Motor Development Lab, has examined fall recovery in walking toddlers for years. By studying fall recovery in young children, Claxton can correlate the innate strategies in children to better understand those sudden moments when adults fall, land and attempt to recover.
The Office of the Vice President for Ethics and Compliance has announced the recipients of the 2025 Martin Luther King Jr. Dreamer Award. The Dreamer Award has been presented annually since 2004 to individuals or organizations within the Purdue University community whose contributions embody Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of service to others and further the university’s commitment to diversity. Recipients will be recognized at a reception Jan. 21 at the Dauch Alumni Center.
The president and CEO of GlobalFoundries, a leading semiconductor manufacturer, will join Purdue President Mung Chiang for a fireside chat Wednesday (Jan. 15), kicking off the spring 2025 edition of the Presidential Lecture Series. Dr. Thomas Caulfield, who has led GlobalFoundries since 2018, steered the company’s initial public offering in October 2021, which was the largest semiconductor IPO on Nasdaq that year. He has an extensive career spanning engineering, executive management and global operational leadership with leading technology companies. The event is free and open to the public, but a
general admission ticket will be required.
For Kayla Owens, being a Boilermaker began long before the start of her freshman year of college. As part of Purdue Polytechnic High School’s first graduating class, she’s been persistently pursuing her dreams through Purdue. From her first campus visit in sixth grade to receiving her diploma, Kayla has dived into all that the university has to offer, including student organizations, clubs and internship opportunities. She has created a network of connections that will continue to expand when she’s part of the tech workforce.
