Purdue introduces new head football coach Barry Odom with welcome event, press conference
A new chapter for Purdue football has begun with the introduction of new head coach Barry Odom during a welcome event and press conference Tuesday (Dec. 10) at Mackey Arena. The event included remarks by Odom, President Mung Chiang; Michael Berghoff, chair of the Purdue Board of Trustees; and Mike Bobinski, executive vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics.

Chemistry professor Jonathan Wilker selected for 2024 Grist 50, attends Climate Week in New York City
Jonathan Wilker, a professor in the James Tarpo Jr. and Margaret Tarpo Department of Chemistry, was recently named to the 2024 Grist 50 for his research developing “a green substitute for the millions of tons of petroleum-based tapes and industrial chemical-based glues that stick our world together.” The Grist List is made up of climate change leaders "who are tackling some of the most pressing problems of today in innovative and exciting ways.”

Senate 60th anniversary and faculty years of service celebrated at recent luncheon
Purdue honored a significant University Senate milestone and recognized more than 300 faculty members for their years of service during a celebratory luncheon Dec. 3. Faculty members were celebrated for service anniversaries, which ranged from 10 years to a remarkable 55 years.

EPICS team completes 10-year project with Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired
The Learning Equations Across Platforms (LEAP) EPICS team recently delivered its device, an addition to a standard Perkins brailler, to the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ISBVI) for student use. While ISBVI has been a longtime EPICS partner of EPICS, this team’s delivery stands out as a milestone. It's the culmination of 10 years of dedicated work, incorporating feedback and perfecting a device that transliterates Braille from a typewriter into text on a computer.
