Chad Pittman
Chad Pittman, longtime economic development leader, named president and CEO of Purdue Research Foundation
Chad Pittman has been named president and CEO of the Purdue Research Foundation, effective Feb. 1, 2025. Pittman succeeds Brian Edelman, who served as president since spring of 2017. Edelman announced his retirement in August 2024. Pittman was selected following a national search that included the assistance of an executive search firm.

Purdue launches institute to help farmers commercialize new value-added products
A newly formed institute at Purdue is offering training and development support to agriculture producers with novel food and beverage product ideas. The Institute for Food Product Innovation and Commercialization is funded by a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development. A joint effort of Purdue’s departments of Food Science and Agricultural Economics, the institute is part of the USDA Agriculture Innovation Center Program.

Materials engineering professor named Minerals, Metals & Materials Society fellow
Nikhilesh Chawla, associate dean for engineering in Indianapolis and the Ransburg Professor in the School of Materials Engineering, has been made a fellow of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). TMS is the premier society in the field of materials science and engineering and the class of fellow is TMS’s highest honor.

Report ranks Purdue among top 10 universities for international student enrollment
Purdue University is among the top 10 institutions in the U.S. for attracting international students, according to a new national ranking. The 2024 Open Doors Report, issued Tuesday (Nov. 19) by the Institute of International Education, ranks Purdue No. 9 among 4,500-plus public and private universities, and it places Purdue at No. 24 among all U.S. institutions in number of study abroad students.
