At a higher education institution the size of Purdue University, it’s easy for a team like Enrollment Management Strategic Communications and Initiatives to operate without much fanfare. But its role in attracting prospective undergraduate students, sharing critical academic information with current students, and amplifying the stories and experiences coming out of colleges and units across campus is crucial in cultivating and sustaining Purdue’s world-renowned excellence.
Computer scientist Alex Psomas is working with AI algorithms to automate the distribution of food to food banks, making the process fairer, more ethical and far more efficient. Psomas is partnering with the Indy Hunger Network to make automatic allocations for food donations, saving staff from calling around to food banks and drivers from idling while waiting to be given food destinations.
