Postdoctoral researcher Salvador R. Vazquez and assistant professor Sarah Eason in the Department of Human Development and Family Science examined hundreds of cereal boxes to see what kind of math activities were printed on them. The researchers say such number activities on the backs of cereal boxes are a valuable way to get math in front of preschool kids.
U.S. News & World Report ranked Purdue’s Division of Environmental and Ecological Engineering’s graduate program No. 9 and its undergraduate program No. 12 among the best environmental engineering programs in the nation for 2024, an impressive accomplishment, Purdue officials say, considering how new the program is.
On Oct. 25, volunteers planted trees and mulched at Horticulture Park and John T. McCutcheon Residence Hall as part of the fall 2024 Day of Service. A total of 894 trees have been planted over the four-year history of the event, which is hosted by Purdue University in partnership with the Purdue for Life Foundation.
In its final days, the Purdue United Way campaign still needs more support from the campus community to reach its goals of raising $700,000 for local agencies in need and adding 150 new donors to its roster. As of today (Nov. 6), $585,000 has been raised for this year’s campaign, which ends Nov. 14. Dimitrios Peroulis, the 2024 Purdue United Way campaign chair, expresses his gratitude to Purdue employees for their support so far and encourages those who haven’t yet made a pledge to consider doing so before the campaign concludes.
