Recent research is showing the sometimes devastating impact social exclusion can have on individuals. “Exclusion and Extremism: A Psychological Perspective,” co-edited by Kipling Williams, Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Psychological Sciences, delves into how exclusion can influence extreme, radical or even terrorist ideas and behaviors. Registration open for Nov. 7 Westwood Lecture on assessing the happiness of societies
Louis Tay, the William C. Byham Chair in Industrial-Organizational Psychology in the College of Health and Human Sciences, will present “Assessing Societal Well-Being: Emerging Opportunities and Challenges” from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Westwood, the Purdue president’s residence. The Westwood Lecture Series is an opportunity for Purdue faculty and those staff members engaged in the research topic to interact with colleagues on scholarly work.

Purdue to host grand opening of Accessible Precision Audiology Research Center in Indianapolis on Friday
A new Purdue facility dedicated to reducing the burdens of untreated hearing loss is scheduled to open in downtown Indianapolis this week. The Accessible Precision Audiology Research Center is opening at the 16 Tech Innovation District and adjacent to Purdue University in Indianapolis. The center will be both a leader in precision audiology research and an important access point related to hearing health for the Indiana community and beyond. A grand opening event with remarks from Purdue and 16 Tech leaders will take place Friday (Oct. 25).

Early voting to take place at Córdova Rec Center today; other voting locations available
Purdue will be hosting an early voting location for the general election from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today (Oct. 24) at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center. Voters must be registered to vote in Tippecanoe County and bring a photo ID that meets the required criteria. Voting resources are available online, including a list of acceptable forms of identification.
