Purdue dedicates new hall of science and AI
Purdue on Friday (Oct. 18) dedicated the new Hall of Data Science and AI. A cutting-edge facility, the building will help meet the growing demand for data science graduates across all sectors — from health care and manufacturing to agriculture, transportation and beyond. A renovation of the previously named Helen B. Schleman Hall of Student Services has created a modern facility in the heart of campus where students and faculty will transform data into information, innovation and knowledge while maximizing the unlimited potential of artificial intelligence.

Last week, the Rosen Center for Advanced Computing held a dedication ceremony for its newest community cluster, Gautschi. The Gautschi supercomputer is eponymously named in honor of Walter Gautschi, professor emeritus of computer science and professor emeritus of mathematics at Purdue.

13 Purdue students offered Fulbright grants for 2024-25
Thirteen Purdue students have been offered Fulbright grants to pursue scholarly work across 12 countries for 2024-25. The prestigious Fulbright U.S. Student Program supports cultural exchange and mutual understanding by sponsoring 8-12 months of research, study or teaching abroad. Over 160 countries participate in this bilateral exchange program.

Purdue to host inaugural Space Policy Symposium
Purdue will convene top leaders in government, industry and academia for its inaugural Space Policy Symposium @ Purdue on Oct. 30-31 on the West Lafayette campus. Organized by the Purdue Policy Research Institute, one of the Institutes and Centers at Discovery Park District, the symposium will include workshops and discussions aimed at supporting policy development around norms of behavior in space.

Raising the net in Mackey
For Purdue volleyball coach Dave Shondell, the mission is always to take his program to the next level. Winning teams and high-achieving student-athletes are the goal, but so is helping the sport continue its meteoric rise in popularity. Collegiate volleyball history will be made Oct. 26 when Purdue plays to a capacity crowd against Wisconsin, smashing the attendance record for a Big Ten Conference regular season match that has lasted 19 years.

Early voting to take place at Córdova Rec Center Thursday; other voting locations available
Purdue will be hosting an early voting location for the general election on Thursday (Oct. 24) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Córdova Recreational Sports Center.
