Michael Berghoff, chair of the Purdue University Board of Trustees, announced Friday (Oct. 4) that he will retire from the board effective Jan. 1, 2025, after more than 15 years of service as a trustee. A 1985 Purdue graduate with a bachelor’s degree in industrial management, Berghoff was appointed a Purdue trustee in 2009 and has served as chair since July 2015.
Purdue University’s Board of Trustees on Friday (Oct. 4) elected Gary Lehman as chair and Mike Klipsch as vice chair, effective Jan. 1, 2025. The action comes after the announcement that current chair Michael Berghoff will retire from the board at the end of 2024.
Researchers in Purdue’s College of Engineering have developed patent-pending single-photon 3D nanoprinting technology. It produces a higher throughput of complex, high-resolution nanostructures faster and less expensively than traditional laser-based 3D additive nanoprinting technologies.
Thirteen Purdue University assistant and associate professors received National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Awards between April 2023 and the end of July 2024 to fund their research. CAREER awards recognize faculty who have the potential to serve as academic role models in research and education and to lead advances in the mission of their department or organization.
Purdue Global celebrated the accomplishments of more than 2,200 graduates among three in-person and two virtual commencement ceremonies on Oct. 5. More than 10,000 guests, faculty and staff attended the in-person commencements at Elliott Hall of Music. The graduates represented 26 countries and 49 states, including 390 residents from Indiana, plus the District of Columbia, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
Recognizing the continued strong demand for affordable, on-campus room and board, the Purdue University Board of Trustees on Friday (Oct. 4) approved housing and dining rates for the 2025-26 academic year. Trustees approved a tiered increase in housing rates, with 79% of beds increasing by less than $50 per month. Rate increases allow for continued reinvestment in student support, enhanced facilities and common spaces, residence hall wireless internet upgrades, and sustainable increases in future capacity.

When an upperclassman student commented that they were trying to fundraise to purchase flowers to give to students at the White Coat Ceremony, Marie and Theresa stepped in to make sure all 150 students received a flower after they walked across the stage.
