Purdue is the only U.S. university involved in a new partnership with four major Colombian universities to expand comprehensive student programs and research collaborations. A memorandum of understanding partners Purdue with Icesi University, Universidad EAFIT, Universidad del Norte and the Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración. The signing ceremony with representatives of the private universities — called the 4U Alliance — took place Sept. 3 in Colombia.

Eradivir, a preclinical biotech company that develops antiviral therapeutics, has completed a $10.25 million Series A funding round. The funding will be used to conduct a Phase 2a challenge study of its EV25 influenza treatment. EV25 was built on a platform created by Philip Low, the Presidential Scholar for Drug Discovery and the Ralph C. Corley Distinguished Professor of Chemistry in Purdue University’s College of Science.
Plant growth data gathered from real-world experiments and field measurements are central for creating realistic “digital twins,” a form of plant phenotyping. Researchers at Purdue and the University of Arizona are looking to develop a novel AI-based conversational virtual reality platform called VR-Bio-Talk, which addresses some of the barriers to effectively utilizing these large and valuable datasets.
