Purdue sets record with $647M in research awards, more than doubling research funding in last decade
The Purdue University system received more than $647 million in research funding for fiscal year 2023. Each year over the past decade, the university has set a new record for research awards. The total represents a 6% increase over fiscal 2023 and a 102% increase since fiscal 2013. This year’s funding will support approximately 3,500 research projects that improve the lives of individuals in Indiana and throughout the nation.

Purdue Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Research Building project
Purdue Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Research Building project to go to state lawmakers in 2025-27 capital request
Purdue University’s 10-year capital plan, which was recently reviewed and approved by trustees, includes an Interdisciplinary Life Sciences Research Building project on the university’s West Lafayette campus that will soon be submitted to the state as part of the process to request funding in the upcoming biennium budget. The 140,000-square-foot facility will include a new, shared space for research institutes such as the Purdue University Institute for Cancer Research and other life science research and teaching programs across campus, enhancing the connection to existing core facilities and fostering a collaborative environment among researchers.

Registration open for Sept. 3 Westwood Lecture on workforce development research in the defense sector
Registration is open for faculty to attend the Westwood Lecture Series on Sept. 3. Jennifer S. Linvill, an assistant professor of technology leadership and innovation in the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, will present “Scaling Up: Preparing a Career-ready Defense Microelectronics Engineering Workforce Through Needs Assessments” from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at Westwood, the Purdue president’s residence.

Search launched for next College of Health and Human Sciences dean
Purdue Provost Patrick Wolfe and Vice President for Health Affairs Eric Barker have announced the launch of a national search for the next dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences. A search advisory committee has been formed and is setting to work immediately, with leadership through scholarly excellence its sole focus.
