Students at Boiler Gold Rush
Boiler Gold Rush Kickoff welcomes incoming Purdue students
Students attending Boiler Gold Rush International and Boiler Gold Rush participated in the Boiler Gold Rush Kickoff event Tuesday evening (Aug. 13), welcoming them to Purdue. Students heard from Purdue President Mung Chiang, members of Purdue Athletics and the 2024 Student Orientation Committee. Purdue is projected to welcome its most selective class of undergraduate students for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year as part of the university’s 10th straight year of record applicants.

New NSF center applies artificial intelligence to structural engineering
How will machine learning and AI revolutionize the practice of structural design and evaluation? That’s the question being addressed by a collaboration between Purdue University and the University of Houston, with funding by the National Science Foundation. They are establishing a new center to empower engineers that are responsible for designing and inspecting structures to use AI and machine learning in their everyday tasks.
