The National Science Foundation has renewed $5 million in funding for the Center for Bioanalytic Metrology, an NSF center supporting fundamental research in chemical measurement science at Purdue University, Indiana University and the University of Notre Dame.
Students can feel confident about challenging material with the help of Betsy Parkinson, assistant professor of chemistry and medicinal chemistry and molecular pharmacology. Parkinson fell in love with both science and teaching at an early age. Her experiences growing up on a farm in Mississippi inspired, in part, her current research on soil-dwelling bacteria and medicines based on natural products (molecules made by living organisms). Her passion for sharing knowledge is something that has always been a part of her, too.

Purdue for Life Foundation thanks campus instructors for participation in Grandparents University
On July 18-19 and July 25-26, the Purdue for Life Foundation hosted nearly 1,000 grandparents and grandchildren on the West Lafayette campus for Grandparents University. The goal of the event is to strengthen connections — between grandparents, their grandchildren and Purdue. With the help of instructors from across the university, participants were able to choose from 27 different “majors” to study, participate in hands-on learning activities and enjoy their own commencement ceremony in Elliott Hall of Music.
