Purdue for Life Foundation President and CEO Matt Folk announced Monday (May 20) that he will step down from his current role and focus his efforts on the growth of Purdue’s new Indianapolis campus, launching this summer, as Ambassador for Purdue in Indianapolis. A national search will identify the next CEO for Purdue for Life Foundation.
Researchers in Purdue’s College of Engineering have developed an apparatus to generate and measure gas breakdown during contact electrification — the process responsible for static electricity. Their findings offer insight into the potential and limitations of this type of electricity when harvested as an energy source for a variety of devices, including e-textiles, wearables and smart packaging.

Lizzie Todd, a systems engineer on an Arrow McLaren IndyCar Team, receives support and encouragement from her “Indiana mom,” Terri Talbert-Hatch, who co-founded the motorsports engineering program of which Todd is an alumna. Todd fell in love with IndyCar racing as an 8-year-old attending the Carb Day practice session ahead of the 2006 Indianapolis 500. The motorsports engineering alumna turned that childhood passion into a career.
