Photo gallery: Purdue celebrates the Class of 2024
Purdue completed its annual spring rite with eight commencement ceremonies that took place Friday through Sunday (May 10-12) at Elliott Hall of Music. The spring 2024 graduating class had 8,284 undergraduates, 2,323 graduate students, 210 students from professional programs and 244 students from Purdue Polytechnic Institute’s statewide programs. Purdue President Mung Chiang delivered the keynote speech for each ceremony.

Nutrition science researcher uncovers connection between hormones, gut microbiome and metabolic dysfunction commonly seen in postmenopausal women
Hot flashes are one of the most commonly discussed side effects of menopause, but the decline of ovarian hormones and its effect on the gut microbiome can also increase the risk of a variety of metabolic diseases, including obesity and cardiometabolic syndrome, according to a recent publication by Tzu-Wen Cross, assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition Science.

LyoWave Inc., a high-tech startup, is commercializing innovative microwave heating technologies developed at Purdue that improve upon traditional lyophilization — or the process of freeze-drying perishable products — by increasing speed, cost-effectiveness and product throughput.

Datta elected to the National Academy of Sciences
Supriyo Datta, the Thomas Duncan Distinguished Professor in the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering, has added a major feather to his professional cap. On April 30, he was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in recognition of his distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.
