Men's basketball win at Final Four
Purdue advances to national championship game
The Old Gold and Black, led by head coach Matt Painter, has won five straight tournament games to advance to the 2024 NCAA Men’s Basketball National Championship Game in Glendale, Arizona, inside State Farm Stadium. Purdue, the Midwest Region’s No. 1 seed and champion, defeated 11-seeded NC State, 63-50, to advance to the final game of the season, which will be played at 9:20 p.m. ET today (April 8). Edey garners host of honors during Final Four weekend
On the eve of the national championship game, Purdue senior center Zach Edey earned a number of accolades in the last two days including the Associated Press  National Player of the Year, the Oscar Robertson Trophy award winner (U.S. Basketball Writers Association) and the Naismith Trophy Player of the Year.
Today: Events in Indianapolis and on campus for watching total solar eclipse
Purdue is celebrating the total solar eclipse taking place today (April 8) through a variety of watch events, including one of Indiana’s largest — presented at Indianapolis Motor Speedway by Purdue, IMS and NASA. In addition, events are scheduled across campus to celebrate the phenomenon, including a solar eclipse watch party on Stadium Mall that begins at 1:45 p.m. Photos from the viewing event at IMS will be included in Wednesday’s (April 10) issue of Purdue Today.

Purdue psychological sciences researcher exploring fear memory ‘deflation’
An extinction method of reducing fear by diving right back into a fearful setting can have adverse effects on a patient, according to Sydney Trask, an assistant professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences. Trask has developed a method she calls fear “deflation,” which chips away at the fearful stimulus in a more gradual manner. Trask’s work aims to introduce individuals to weaker versions of the thing that’s causing them fear to make it seem less intimidating.

Trustees approve faculty promotions, tenured faculty transferring from IUPUI to Purdue West Lafayette
Purdue University’s Board of Trustees on Friday (April 5) approved faculty promotions and tenured faculty transferring from IUPUI to Purdue West Lafayette. The promotions and transfers are effective with the 2024-25 academic year.

An unlikely hero finds himself on a life-changing journey alongside a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess who resists her rescue. The Tony Award-winning musical brings all the beloved characters from the Oscar-winning DreamWorks animated film to life in “Shrek the Musical” at Elliott Hall of Music on Thursday (April 11).
