Undergraduate student pay minimum to increase to $9/hour this year and $10/hour in 2025, as proposed by Purdue Student Government
Thanks to discussions over the past months with student leaders and in recognition of market competitiveness, the Action Council on Student Housing and Well-Being approved an increase to $9 per hour to the minimum West Lafayette undergraduate student pay rate. This increase will take effect July 1 and will be followed by an increase to $10 per hour July 1, 2025 – representing a 38% increase overall from the minimum as it stands today.

Purdue’s pioneering dean of veterinary medicine to step down after a quarter-century of university service; search launched
As planned and announced to Purdue University Veterinary Medicine colleagues two years ago, Dean Willie Reed will step down June 30, after 17 years in his leadership role and 25 total years of service to the university. A celebration of Dean Reed’s legacy will take place later this semester, and a search advisory committee for his successor is set to begin its work.

New Young Institute Advisory Council to bolster Purdue pharmaceutical manufacturing mission
The William D. and Sherry L. Young Advanced Manufacturing of Pharmaceuticals Institute at Purdue University announced Wednesday (March 6) the appointment of a new advisory council that will provide strategic guidance to support the institute’s efforts to innovate and advance pharmaceutical manufacturing. The advisory council’s five members bring expertise, business acumen, regulatory perspectives and technical skills to the institute’s mission to improve pharmaceutical manufacturing through research and workforce training.

Presidential Lecture doubleheader
Reminder: Presidential Lecture doubleheader to feature Nobel laureate Moungi Bawendi, plus NSF head Sethuraman Panchanathan and U.S. Sen. Todd Young
Tickets are now available for Purdue’s Presidential Lecture Series double feature April 25. Kicking off the day is a fireside chat with President Mung Chiang, National Science Foundation director Sethuraman Panchanathan and U.S. Sen. Todd Young, R-Ind., at 11 a.m. in Stewart Center’s Fowler Hall. At 6 p.m. in Elliott Hall of Music, Chiang will lead a conversation with Moungi G.
