Chemotherapy can save lives, but often a cancer patient may be resistant to their prescribed chemotherapy, a condition known as chemoresistance. Purdue veterinary scientists and physicists believe their method of detecting chemoresistance could be the new standard for personalized medicine.
Purdue senior Sydney Hummel had spent months developing her Churchill Scholarship application, and years before that pursuing the kind of experiences that would make her a competitive candidate for the prestigious award. Now, as a Churchill Scholar, Hummel will pursue her master’s degree in medical sciences at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom.
This week’s Presidential Lecture Series event featuring National Science Foundation Director Panchanathan and U.S. Sen. Todd Young, R-Indiana, will be rescheduled for April when the Senate is in spring recess. Panchanathan and Young were scheduled to join Purdue President Mung Chiang on Tuesday (Feb. 13) for a fireside chat as part of the Presidential Lecture Series. U.S. Sen. Young must remain on Capitol Hill this week and would be unable to participate.
