Board approves winter recess for 2018-19

At the recommendation of President Mitch Daniels, the Board of Trustees today (Feb. 9) approved for 2018 the addition of a three-day winter recess on Dec. 26, 27 and 28 for faculty and staff on all Purdue campuses. The three days are in addition to approved University holidays already scheduled for Dec. 24, 25 and 31, and Jan. 1, 2019.

Purdue trustees approve distinguished professorships, endowed positions, posthumous degree, department name change

The Purdue Board of Trustees today (Feb. 9) approved the appointments of four named and distinguished professors, awarded a posthumous degree and issued a resolution of appreciation for the institution’s top donors. The board also voted to rename a department in the College of Agriculture to better reflect its mission and vision.

Trustees approve exploration of new on-campus residence space, Brees center renovation project

Purdue's Board of Trustees today (Feb. 9) approved a resolution that empowers a University team to begin exploring construction of one or more new residence halls at West Lafayette, adding approximately 1,000 beds to meet the increased student demand to live on campus. Trustees also approved a first-floor renovation project at the Brees Academic Performance Center and a maintenance agreement for the University's student information system.

Porter County arboretum now operating as Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest

Purdue University Northwest, through a generous gift from the Taltree Arboretum & Gardens Foundation's board of directors and Damien and Rita Gabis, is now operating the 300-plus-acre arboretum near Valparaiso long known as Taltree Arboretum & Gardens. The Board of Trustees today (Feb. 9) approved the renaming of the property to Gabis Arboretum at Purdue Northwest.
