Board of Trustees NewsPurdue officials propose tuition freeze for fourth straight year, 3.5 percent merit pay increaseThe Purdue Board of Trustees today (May 15) endorsed a proposed tuition freeze for resident, nonresident and international students at the West Lafayette campus through the next two academic years. At the same time, the board endorsed the proposed conceptual operating budget for fiscal year 2016, which will provide for a 3.5 percent merit pay increase for employees at West Lafayette. In addition, the proposal calls for entry-level wages to be increased to $10 per hour for all benefits-eligible clerical and service staff. Board endorses principles of free speech, open debatePurdue's Board of Trustees today (May 15) passed a resolution endorsing an overarching commitment to free speech among all members of the Purdue community and affirming a set of principles designed to protect free expression. Trustees approve Purdue Polytechnic Institute nameThe Purdue University Board of Trustees today (May 15) approved renaming the College of Technology to the Purdue Polytechnic Institute to better reflect its changing and expanded mission. Trustees OK Ag and Life Sciences Facility, equine center, runway projectA new $60 million Agricultural and Life Sciences Facility that was designated as the University's top priority in a 10-year capital plan submitted to the state was given the green light to move forward by Purdue's Board of Trustees today (May 15). The board also took actions to advance an equine center in Shelbyville, Indiana; make significant runway improvements at the Purdue Airport; approve the final term of a procurement tool to advance campus projects in a timely manner; and sign a development agreement for the State Street corridor project. Innovation Design Center named for Stephen D. Bechtel, Jr., in recognition of leadership giftToday (May 15) the Purdue Board of Trustees approved naming the Innovation Design Center — a student projects facility scheduled to open in 2017 — for Stephen D. Bechtel, Jr., in recognition of the S.D. Bechtel, Jr. Foundation's leadership gift toward the $18.5 million building. Trustees confirm 6 named, distinguished professors, recommend approval of 2 doctoral degrees at IUPUIThe Board of Trustees today (May 15) ratified six named and distinguished professorships, and also recommended approval of two doctoral degrees at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. Trustees also approved a resolution of appreciation for outgoing student trustee Kelsey Quin and resolutions of appreciation for donors who have given $1 million or more to Purdue.
