University Street closure part of this week's road construction update

Appointments, promotions, honors:

— Venkataramanan (Ragu) Balakrishnan has been named associate dean for research in the College of Engineering.
— Beverly J. Davis, associate professor of organizational leadership and supervision, is a member of the National Visiting Committee for the National Center for Manufacturing Education and attended a meeting for the group in Dayton, Ohio, in August.
— The College of Technology's computer and information technology program has received its first accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, known as ABET.
— James Davidson, professor of sociology, received a Distinguished Hoosier award from the state of Indiana.

Courses in Chinese from Confucius Institute, Continuing Ed

Three non-credit courses in elementary Chinese conversation, Chinese for business, and Chinese calligraphy are offered this fall through the Confucius Institute at Purdue (CIP) and Purdue Continuing Education. The courses are open to anyone with an interest in Chinese language and culture. More

Dan Zanes and Friends family folk music

Dan Zanes, the former lead singer and songwriter for the rock band the Del Fuegos, and his band will perform their Grammy-winning children's music at 3 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Long Center for the Performing Arts. More
