RCHE - Generative AI and LLM in Healthcare Operations DUIRI - Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship Spring 2024 Accepted Data Science, Large Language Model, Healthcare Are you fascinated by the potential of artificial intelligence to revolutionize healthcare and improve patient outcomes? Do you have a passion for cutting-edge research and innovation? We're seeking enthusiastic and motivated undergraduate research assistants to join our dynamic team in an exciting project that leverages Generative AI and Language Models (LLM) to create advanced agent-based simulations for healthcare applications. This project will be supervised by Prof. Pengyi Shi, who has done a lot interdisciplinary research on applying data science and machine learning to address important societal problems. It will be jointly supervised by Dr. Xiaoqian Wang from ECE and Dr. Mengshi Lu from Krannert. We are aiming to hire undergrad research assistant, who will be a key contributor to a project focused on developing AI-driven agent-based simulations to enhance patient care and healthcare management. The project involves using Generative AI techniques and LLM to create virtual agents that simulate real-world patient interactions, healthcare scenarios, and treatment protocols. Pengyi Shi • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team to design and develop agent-based simulations using Generative AI and LLM.
• Implement AI algorithms and models to simulate patient/doctor/nurse behaviors, healthcare decisions, and treatment outcomes.
• Fine-tune and optimize the simulations based on real-world data and expert input.
• Collaborate on writing and refining code, documentation, and research papers.
• Contribute creative ideas to improve the accuracy and realism of the simulations.

Estimated Project Length: 6 months, depending on the progress. You will gain the following benefits during the project:
• Gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge AI research and healthcare management.
• Collaborate with experts in the field and contribute to impactful research.
• Opportunity to co-author a conference paper targeting a submission deadline in January 2024.
• If the student has outstanding qualification, there will be chance to be recommended to faculty in top US schools for follow-up research opportunities.
https://web.ics.purdue.edu/~shi178/ • GPA >= 3.85. Major in Computer Science, ECE, Data Science, or a related field. • Strong programming skills, particularly in Python. • Interest in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and LLM. • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment. • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills. • Familiarity with agent-based modeling or AI techniques is a plus but not required. 3 10 (estimated)
