Project Getting Democracy Just Right Program Margo Katherine Wilke Undergraduate Research Internship Program Term Fall 2024 Status Accepted Research Area Political Theory Description In this research project we will consider whether ordinary people are up to the task of democratic citizenship. We will identify what that task of citizenship is. And then consider whether that is an attainable bar for citizens. Are our expectations of ordinary people in US politics too high or too low? How can we get it just right? We will review political behavior research and bring it into conversation with political theory scholarship on democratic deliberation and partisanship.
