Research on Asian and Multiracial Americans' Race-Related Experiences First Year Investigators Undergraduate Research Program 12-Month 2023 Closed Race and racism, Asian American and Multiracial development, well-being In the Antiracism, Resistance, Identity, Socialization, and Equity (ARISE) Lab, run by Dr. Annabelle Lin Atkin, we study the race-related development of diverse youth. Our mission is to understand how race-related factors, such as racial-ethnic socialization (i.e., communicating about race, ethnicity, and culture), play a role in promoting positive development, which includes identity development, mental health, and critical racial consciousness. Critical racial consciousness involves awareness of racism, beliefs that one can affect change, and engagement in activism to address racial inequity.
